MAP – Minho Access Point – Regional Integrating Point for Mobility Data in the Quadrilátero Urbano Territory Co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility – European Union – C-Roads – Cooperative Streets. This initiative forms part of the investment priority aimed at promoting low-carbon strategies across all types of territories, with the objective of encouraging multimodal and more sustainable urban mobility.
Minho Access Point (MAP) is an open data portal designed to facilitate access to information on transport and mobility, promoted by Associação Quadrilátero Urbano, which includes the municipalities of Barcelos, Braga, Guimarães and Vila Nova de Famalicão, as well as the Ave and Cávado CIMs. This initiative aims to promote intermodality, improve the attractiveness of public transport and enable more efficient journey planning. The implementation of MAP aims to increase convenience in the use of mobility services, ensuring the efficient integration of different means of transport, as well as the integrated planning of territories.
The MAP open data portal aims to make information on mobility more accessible and useful in the daily lives of citizens and public decision-makers. This transparency not only facilitates the organisation of territories, but also promotes increased efficiency in public transport and better planning and coordination between different modes of mobility. In addition, by allowing free access to this information, the portal encourages the active participation of the community in identifying needs and suggesting improvements, promoting a more connected, functional city model geared towards the well-being of its inhabitants.
From a technical point of view, MAP is based on open source technologies and has a scalable web architecture, guaranteeing interoperability with other platforms through a secure and controlled API. This API acts as an intermediary in communication between the different mobility systems, allowing data to be integrated with the National Access Point (NAP).
By aggregating and sharing this data, MAP reinforces transparency, improves the user experience and drives the development of innovative solutions for more efficient and sustainable mobility in the Quadrilátero Urbano.
